Every woman in Ireland between the ages of 17 and 35 can avail of free contraception. This is not linked to having a medical card.
The scheme covers the pill and long-lasting contraception, including coil insertions. Women may be asked to show their PPS number and proof of date of birth which are required to avail of this.
